One number is a start.
Years of them is a story.

Figures saves your monthly figures, charts the trend, and lets you invite a partner so you both see the same household total.

How net worth works

Net worth is what you own minus what you owe. Add up the market value of every asset — cash, savings, investments, pensions, property, vehicles, crypto — then subtract every debt: mortgage, loans, credit cards, student loans.

The number on its own is just a snapshot. What matters is the direction it moves in over months and years. A negative figure is common in your twenties and early thirties — mortgages and student loans usually dominate — and it climbs as you pay debt down and assets grow.

Use the market value of property today, not what you paid. Use the current outstanding balance for debts, not the original loan. For pensions and investments, use the latest statement value.
